Commissioned by Harvey Milk to be a symbol of pride for the gay community and designed by Gilbert Baker in 1977.
The original design had two additional colours (hot pink that represented sex and turquoise that represented magic/art) which were removed due to the high demand of rainbow flags after the assassination of Harvey Milk.

Yellow = Sunlight
Green = Nature
Indigo = Serenity
Violet = Spirit
